Overview
Southend Pharmacy, a subsidiary of Allia Health Group, is a rapidly growing 503A compounding pharmacy committed to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. Our pharmacy specializes in sterile and non-sterile compounded medications, clinical excellence, and innovative pharmacy solutions that support providers and patients nationwide. We are expanding our onsite leadership team and seeking a highly skilled Lead Pharmacist to support daily operations, uphold regulatory standards, and elevate our compounding practice.
This is an onsite role at the Southend Pharmacy Houston facility.
The Lead Clinical Pharmacist oversees day-to-day pharmacy operations in a 503A compounding environment, ensuring the safe, accurate, and compliant preparation, verification, and dispensing of medications. This position provides leadership to pharmacists and technicians while supporting cleanroom standards, sterile compounding workflows, and adherence to USP standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership- Lead daily workflow in a 503A compounding pharmacy, ensuring timely and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide onsite leadership, coaching, and training to pharmacy technicians and support staff.
- Serve as acting pharmacy leader when the Pharmacy Manager is unavailable.
- Partner with leadership on staffing, scheduling, and operational improvements.
- Verify and dispense medications with accuracy consistent with compounding-specific requirements.
- Oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding procedures in accordance with USP standards.
- Conduct drug utilization reviews (DUR) and evaluate compounded formulations for safety and appropriateness.
- Ensure cleanroom procedures, aseptic technique, and environmental monitoring practices are followed.
- Maintain compliance with 503A compounding regulations and demonstrate working knowledge of 503B requirements.
- Adhere to Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) regulations, DEA regulations, FDA guidelines, and internal SOPs.
- Ensure meticulous documentation and oversight of controlled substances and sterile compounding logs.
- Support audit readiness and lead corrective actions when compliance deviations are identified.
- Identify workflow improvements for safety, efficiency, and accuracy within the compounding environment.
- Assist with root-cause analysis and quality assurance initiatives.
- Monitor key operational metrics: accuracy, sterility compliance, productivity, and turnaround times.
- Partner with prescribers, clinical teams, and internal departments to ensure seamless compounding and dispensing operations.
- Support technician training in sterile compounding, gowning protocols, and SOP adherence.
- Communicate operational needs, risks, and updates to leadership promptly.

D or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. - Active Texas Pharmacist License (TSBP) in good standing.
- Minimum 5+ years of pharmacist experience in a compounding pharmacy (503A required; 503B experience strongly preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of sterile and non-sterile compounding, USP standards, and cleanroom operations.
- Previous leadership, lead pharmacist, or supervisory experience.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume compounding environment.
- Direct experience in both 503A and 503B pharmacy settings.
- Experience with environmental monitoring, media fill testing, and advanced compounding quality controls.
- Background in specialty pharmacy or clinical program support.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a desk and work on a computer.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, or via virtual meeting.
- Ability to maintain focus in a typical office environment with moderate noise levels.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands and arms, such as typing.
