As a Radiation Therapist you will play a vital role in delivering precise radiation therapy to cancer patients. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring treatments are administered safely and accurately while providing compassionate care.

Key Functions
  • Administers safe and accurate radiation therapy treatment.
Clinical Practice Management
  • Ensures accurate treatment delivery and data capture, demonstrating sound clinical judgement.
  • Gathers necessary set‑up aids and prepares room and equipment for patient.
  • Works at a speed that supports treatment/simulation unit scheduling.
  • Maintains appropriate treatment and simulation records and data.
  • Demonstrates manual dexterity and psychomotor skills to operate complex radiation‑emitting units.
  • Adapts to changes in work schedule or assigned area as patient load dictates.
  • Monitors patients for unusual reactions and reports to the radiation oncologist.
  • Explains treatment procedures to patients and answers questions in clear, concise language.
  • Performs and maintains Quality Assurance activities.
Quality Assurance Management
  • Complies with departmental quality assurance practices.
  • Ensures consent forms are in the treatment record and signed by the patient.
  • Monitors daily treatment records and machine QA.
  • Notifies physics or engineering of measurements that fall outside accepted parameters.
  • Reviews records for discrepancies between prescription, treatment plan, and amendments.
  • Attends planning clinic as assigned.
  • Maintains mandatory quality control activities and documentation.
Competency Management
  • Ensures appropriate clinical skills are learned and maintained.
  • Maintains departmentally identified base competencies, including calculations.
  • Documents competency assessment criteria accurately.
  • Participates in lectures, seminars, and in‑services to stay abreast of new techniques.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills and professional behaviour.
  • Works within scope of practice and competency level.
  • Participates in clinical instruction and evaluation.
Education And Training Management
  • Participates in practitioner/student education and assessment.
  • Shares knowledge and skills with students and peers.
  • Participates in departmental and institutional learning initiatives.
  • Orientates and teaches new students or therapists rotating to the treatment unit.
  • Evaluates students on cognitive, affective and psychomotor objectives.
  • Adheres to departmental guidelines, institutional policies and dress code.
  • Completes internal variance forms for any error and forwards to supervisor within 24 hours.
  • Improves all actions required to accomplish job duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
