Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive laboratory training program for both new hires and existing staff.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing trainings focusing on laboratory procedures, specimen handling, POCT, and equipment operation.
  • Develop training schedules, manuals, competency assessments, checklists, and instructional materials.
  • Evaluate and enhance training processes based on feedback, incident reports, and emerging best practices.
  • Collaborate with leadership and compliance teams to identify training needs and fill gaps.
  • Provide targeted training for clinical staff involved in specimen collection and lab workflows.
  • Conduct competency assessments in line with CLIA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain precise training records and track compliance with training requirements, reporting any deficiencies.
  • Align all training modules with regulatory standards including CLIA, OSHA, and HIPAA.
  • Assist with audits and corrective actions related to training and competence issues.
  • Promote a quality and safety culture within the laboratory and clinical environments.
  • Support new laboratory technology deployment by training relevant staff.
  • Monitor referred testing lifecycle and implement quality improvements as needed.
  • Audit and collaborate with vendors to minimize errors in testing processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support laboratory operations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
  • Certification as MLS(ASCP), MLT(ASCP), or equivalent is required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification is required.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting is essential.
  • Prior training or educational experience is preferred.
  • Supervisory or managerial experience in a laboratory setting is an advantage.
  • Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong knowledge and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to preventive health care concepts and collaborative care delivery.
  • Proficiency with computers and computer-based applications, including electronic medical records and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information is necessary.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
