The primary purpose of the Radiation Therapist is to deliver precision radiation therapy to cancer patients, maintain accurate treatment records, and monitor patients throughout their treatment course.
Key Responsibilities- Administer safe and accurate radiation therapy treatments in a timely manner.
- Set up and prepare rooms and equipment, ensuring all safety and calibration checks are performed.
- Maintain accurate treatment and simulation records, including documenting quality assurance activities.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions, report findings to the radiation oncologist, and provide clear patient education.
- Perform and document mandatory quality control activities, verifying patient consent and treatment parameters.
- Participate in competency management, continuing education, and departmental learning initiatives.
- Assist in teaching and mentoring students or new staff, ensuring adherence to departmental policies.
- Execute additional duties as assigned, maintaining compliance with safety and security requirements.
Required: Graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited program in Radiation Therapy or equivalent.
Certification/Licensure: Certification and registration in Radiation Therapy by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT);
Medical Radiologic Technologist license by the Texas Medical Board (TMB).
