Position: Outpatient Clinical Nurse / Diagnostic Imaging

Overview

MD Anderson's Diagnostic Imaging department is one of the most advanced imaging centers in the world dedicated solely to cancer care. DI provides:

  • Comprehensive imaging services including CT, MRI, PET/CT, Ultrasound, Mammography, Interventional Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine.
  • Specialized oncology-focused imaging utilizing state-of-the-art technology for detection, staging, treatment planning, and monitoring.
  • A collaborative, multidisciplinary model involving radiologists, nurses, technologists, and oncology teams.
  • High-volume, high-acuity patient care
    , offering nurses exposure to complex oncologic cases.
  • Strong emphasis on patient experience
    , ensuring comfort, communication, and high-quality care throughout the imaging process.

The Clinical Nurse plays a vital role in patient preparation, education, safety, procedural support, contrast management, reaction response, throughput coordination, and high-level patient interaction.

The Clinical Nurse coordinates and delivers patient-centered, evidence-based care across the continuum in Diagnostic Imaging. This role works as part of an inter-professional team, advocates for patients and families, and supports staff development to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Shift / hours
:
Monday - Saturday (10-20:30 M-F) / 6:30-17:00 rotating Saturday)

Education
  • Required:

    Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor's Degree Nursing.

    RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license. Upon Hire

    BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire

  • Required:

    ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support If working in the following department: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761). Upon Hire
  • Required:

    PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support If working in the following departments: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761) or Pedi - Child & Adolescent Center (113200). Upon Hire
  • Preferred: OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification Certification in specialty practice area. Upon Hire
Other Requirements

All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
