Overview

The Patient Care Technician at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides direct patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse and plays an essential role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and care outcomes. This role supports a fast paced emergency oncology environment and is vital to the delivery of timely, compassionate, and high quality patient care.

Qualifications
  • Education Required:

    High school diploma or equivalent

    None
  • Experience

    Required:

    None
  • Experience Preferred:
    One year of current or recent patient care experience in a hospital setting, preferably in an emergency room/department
  • Licensure/Certification

    Required:

    None
  • Licensure/Certification Preferred:
    Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Other

    Required:

    Must pass pre employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources
Responsibilities
  • Acts as a member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs
  • Assists with activities of daily living, mobilization, patient admits/discharges, and obtaining vital signs
  • Updates and retrieves patient information
  • Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly manner
  • Functions as part of an assigned care team
  • Other duties as assigned
Employment Details
  • Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays
  • Hours and salary:
    Hourly range:
    Minimum $18.27, Midpoint $22.84, Maximum $27.40
  • Employment Type:

  • FLSA: non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay
