Position: Staff Psychologist Opportunity in the greater Houston Area

Overview

The Department of Veterans Affairs Houston Healthcare System is seeking a full-time Staff Psychologist with an addiction and substance-use treatment disorder background for the Michael

E. Debakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX. The psychologist will provide direct patient contact including, but not limited to: case management, psychological assessment and treatment planning, individual psychotherapy/assessment sessions, family/caregiver stress therapy sessions, and other evidenced based treatments for serious mental illness. The psychologist will perform evaluations of patients with addiction and substance abuse disorders.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient contact including, but not limited to: case management, psychological assessment and treatment planning, individual psychotherapy/assessment sessions, family/caregiver stress therapy sessions, and other evidence-based treatments for serious mental illness. Conduct evaluations of patients with addiction and substance use disorders.

Work Schedule

Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 8:00 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. and Wed 11:30 a.m.– 8:00 p.m.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Likely starting base salary range: $,145

Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State
  • Doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA)
  • Completed a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA or CPA
  • Education or experience with providing care to individuals with Serious Mental Illness (Preferred)
  • Must be highly motivated, team-oriented, and committed to the care and good health of our veterans.
