How you contribute:
- Provide psychotherapy and counseling therapies including group, individual, and family therapy for patients with psychiatric and substance abuse issues.
- Ensure accurate and timely patient documentation.
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions to educate patients regarding psychological, emotional, or substance abuse problems.
- Display active involvement in the treatment planning process.
- Provide family session counseling to all patients to ensure appropriate communication and involvement of family members and support groups.
- Actively communicate with clients, families, and outside referral sources.
- Work well with the interdisciplinary team including physicians, utilization review, and nursing staff members.
- Effectively communicate to UR on treatment and LOS issues.
- Complete appropriate paperwork for clients in a timely, accurate and complete manner.
- Demonstrate appropriate crisis intervention and de‑escalation skills.
- Assist care coordination department as requested.
- Complete all documentation thoroughly, timely, and in accordance with hospital standards.
- Display a thorough knowledge of confidentiality. Complete releases appropriately.
- Demonstrate knowledge of HIPAA regulations and abides with those standards.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all clinical regulations, including TJC, Medicaid, and state and federal laws.
- Display active involvement in the discharge, transition, and after‑care planning treatment processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Education: Master’s degree in social work or counseling or relevant state licensure required.
- Experience: Prior experience with psychiatric and chemical dependency patients.
- License: Current unencumbered clinical license per state of practice guidelines.
- Additional Requirements: CPR and CPI certified within 30 days of employment. May be required to work flexible hours.
