Medical Staff Coordinator – Contract Opportunity (Houston, TX)
We are seeking an experienced Medical Staff Coordinator to support medical staff services, credentialing, and privileging functions for a large healthcare organization in Houston, TX. This is a 13-week contract with potential for permanent hire.
Position Details
- Job Title: Medical Staff Coordinator
- Start Date: February 16, 2026
- Schedule: 8-hour shift between 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Location: Houston, TX 77030
- Assignment Type: 13-week contract with potential to convert
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and process all aspects of medical staff credentialing and privileging in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, internal policies, and accreditation standards (Joint Commission, NCQA, and other regulatory agencies)
- Serve as a resource to Chiefs of Service, Department Heads, Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee, Governing Board, and Legal Department on credentialing and privileging matters
- Manage activities including initial applications, reappointments, changes in staff status or privileges, temporary privileges, leaves of absence, resignations, managed care credentialing, and related correspondence
- Maintain accurate, confidential records within credentialing and privileging database systems
- Utilize Qgenda to create, update, and manage complex provider schedules
- Generate reports and dashboards to support workforce analytics and operational needs
- Accurately input and maintain data across databases, systems, and spreadsheets while ensuring confidentiality and attention to detail
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of administrative, secretarial, or customer service experience
- Qgenda experience required (scheduling and reporting)
- Knowledge of hospital operations, organized medical staff functions, and medical terminology
- Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, email, and spreadsheet applications in a Windows environment
- Experience using credentialing and privileging database systems
- High School Diploma required
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate Degree
- CPMSM or CPCS certification (National Association Medical Staff Services)
- Prior Medical Staff Office or hospital-based credentialing experience

- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
- Reliable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adaptable to flexible schedules
- Proficiency with standard office equipment and computer systems
