Medical Records Tech II (Seasonal Hire)
We are looking for a Medical Records Technician II to work with our medical records department. This role ensures physical and electronic documentation is organized, legible, properly identified and itemized in the correct patient’s chart, and accounted for according to Medicaid/Medicare and organizational guidelines to facilitate payment for services. Maintains confidentiality and privacy as required by UTH and government regulatory compliance agencies.
This role is seasonal, paid hourly, and lasts 3–4 months. It is not benefits‑eligible.
Position Key Accountabilities- Locates and retrieves records to accurately audit and verify patient information.
- Updates client charts in the electronic health record with information in a timely manner.
- Assists providers or other users with correcting record documentation.
- Tracks the location of supplemental charts outside the primary electronic health record.
- Responds to information requests via person, email, EHR, or telephone in a timely manner.
- Maintains compliance with UTH and government privacy rules.
- Participates in privacy monitoring processes.
- Locates and prepares charts or chart information as requested.
- Assists with identifying and correcting inaccuracies, including duplicate accounts within the patient record.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
- Experience with the Epic Health Information Management module preferred.
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification preferred.
High school diploma.
Minimum ExperienceOne (1) year of responsible related experience working within Medical Records.
Physical RequirementsExerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
Residency RequirementEmployees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
