Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of MRI, the MRI Technologist is responsible for the provision of MRI services to patients according to physicians' orders. Provides for patient safety and high quality testing.

what you will do in this role:
  • Completes hospital-wide mandatory education within established deadline. This includes annual Code of Conduct training.
  • Maintains valid licenses/certifications required for the position. Renews these licenses/certifications such that no lapse occurs.
  • Successfully completes all unit/department-specific skills competency checklists/tests (including population-specific) and submits to manpopulationr by the annual performance evaluation date.
  • 75% of department meetings attend, arriving on time and staying for the entire meeting.
  • Completes annual employee health requirements by established deadline. This would include, but would not be limited to, immunization recommendations established by the CDC, i.e., TB testing/screens, MMR, Varicella, and Tdap. Follows up on needle sticks, exposures and other employee health requirements as directed.
  • Actively participates in ongoing patient safety goals/processes.
  • Uses Personal Protective Equipment as directed, thereby preventing incidents.
  • Disposes of sharps/sharp objects correctly, according to policy, thereby preventing incidents.
  • Follows infection control directives and policies, including those related to isolation, handwashing and use of gloves, thereby preventing incidents.
  • Reports all occurrences involving patient/visitor/other employee/self according to policy.
  • Utilizes equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Reports malfunctioning equipment according to Hospital policy.
  • Ensures that work area is clean and free of safety hazards.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Certificate must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (ARMRIT) American Registry of MRI Technologists, or (ARRT-MR) Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or (RT) Radiologic Technologist/Radiographer, or (ARRT-R) Radiography must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
