Senior Physical Therapist Assistant

Overview

The Senior Physical Therapist Assistant – Outpatient – at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides advanced technical assistance to Licensed Physical Therapists and supports patient recovery and mobility through therapeutic interventions. This role directly impacts patient outcomes and quality of care across the continuum of rehabilitation services for patients in our outpatient clinic.

MD Anderson offers advanced rehabilitation services to all patients who need help regaining physical function. The Department of Rehabilitation Services has more than 100 oncology rehabilitation professionals and staff dedicated to optimizing physical abilities and quality of life for people affected by cancer.

• Provide skilled physical therapy interventions under the direction of a Licensed Physical Therapist.
• Document service delivery and submit all required documentation according to department standards.
• Meet department productivity standards and demonstrate financial accountability in billing and resource conservation.
• Participate in maintenance of work area, departmental meetings, and education of students, support personnel, and other health care professionals.
• Participate in department performance improvement projects.
• Serve as a resource for junior staff and assist with complex cases as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Associate's Degree from a Physical Therapist Assistant Program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• Three years of experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
• Current license as a Physical Therapy Assistant issued by the Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners in the state of Texas.
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
