Idealcandidate
Ideal candidate will have High School Diploma and 2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience in a retail, infusion or hospital setting. Highly Prefer at least one year of IV sterile preparation experience, ACPE IV Sterile Products Competency.
Working HoursThe working hours are 12:30p - 9:00p. Mon - Fri.
LocationThe Pharmacy located in the Ambulatory Care Building (ACB) at MD Anderson Cancer Center serves as a dedicated outpatient facility for patients receiving cancer treatment outside of the hospital setting. This pharmacy ensures the safe and timely dispensing of oral chemotherapy, specialty medications, and supportive therapies. It works closely with clinical teams to coordinate treatment plans and provides patients with counseling on medication use, potential side effects, and adherence strategies.
In addition to dispensing medications, the pharmacy assists with insurance verification and prior authorizations to help patients access their prescribed therapies. Its primary mission is to support MD Anderson's commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in an outpatient environment.

- Accurately and efficiently prepares non-hazardous sterile products.
- Understands and utilizes gravimetric workflow process.
- Utilizes IV preparation software.
- Follows all regulatory guidelines for handwashing and garbing.
- Maintains aseptic technique according to Pharmacy Sterile Product Compounding Standards.
- Demonstrates ability to work independently.
- Monitors area inventory and supplies; replenishes as needed.
- Notifies appropriate personnel when shortages or outages occur.
- Ensures medication security and accountability at all times.
- Monitors for expired products and documents waste appropriately.
- Utilizes basic inventory systems (e.g., Pyxis and Pharmogistics).
- Accurately and efficiently pulls drugs to refill controlled access cabinets and anesthesia stations.
- Completes cycle counts in carousel.
- Orders, receives, repacks, fills, and delivers floor stock orders.
- Follows all regulatory guidelines to access patient procedure areas.
- Follows proper procedure to relocate controlled access cabinets.
- Responds promptly to and investigates temperature excursion alerts (e.g., Aeroscout).
- Follows loan and borrow workflow.
- Maintains clean and organized work area at all times.
- Ensures anteroom, sterile compounding rooms, and drug storage areas are properly cleaned and stocked.
- Completes assigned QA tasks.
- Properly handles hazardous drug spills.
- Understands and follows downtime procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Education- Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent - Preferred:
Certificate from an accredited Pharmacy technician training program. - Preferred:
Two years of college credit.
- Required:
2 years Pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, infusion center or retail pharmacy.
