Patient Services Coordinator - Leukemia Unit
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading cancer center. The Patient Services Coordinator in the inpatientology Service supports advanced oncology care for adult patients with leukemia, myeloma, lymphoma, and mycosis fungoides. This role focuses on scheduling, patient flow, and administrative support to ensure high-quality patient care.
Shift: 100% on-site, 7am‑7pm with rotating weekends and holidays.Summary
The primary purpose of the Patient Services Coordinator is to provide and coordinate all tasks associated with patient services within an ambulatory setting; including but not limited to patient scheduling, physician & clinic template maintenance, expediting clinic flow, obtaining vital signs and preparing exam rooms, processing charge capture activities, and assisting in managed care patient authorization.
Responsibilities- Interpret and coordinate physician orders to schedule diagnostic tests, procedures, treatments, and appointments; collaborate with clinic management to maintain physician templates for efficient patient flow.
- Clearly convey appointment information to patients in person, by telephone, or in writing; provide schedule preparation instructions.
- Manage and monitor the patient scheduling process to ensure optimal clinic operations and maintain institutional standards of customer service and quality patient care.
- Receive multiple telephone calls from internal/external customers, take accurate and complete messages, and direct callers appropriately.
- Ensure security and confidentiality of patient information at all times; advise patients/family members about available services with appropriate customer‑service skills.
- Maintain a highly professional and positive attitude, utilize time efficiently, and demonstrate initiative by seeking additional tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
- Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent. - Preferred:
Associate's Degree.
- Required:
3 years of relevant work experience. - Additional education may substitute for experience on a one‑to‑one basis.
- Must pass pre‑employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
- Eligibility to maintain security and integrity of critical infrastructure as required by Texas law.
