Salary Range: $70,000 – $85,000
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and driven Collections Manager to lead an in‑person team of medical collections professionals. This role focuses on managing the daily operations of the collections team, ensuring accurate and timely billing and reimbursement, and maintaining strong relationships with providers and payors. The ideal candidate is a compassionate, results‑oriented leader who thrives in a fast‑paced healthcare revenue environment and can bring innovative ideas to improve processes and team performance.
Key Responsibilities- Direct, supervise, and evaluate the work of collections staff, including performance reviews, coaching, and mentoring.
- Hold team members accountable to departmental goals, metrics, and industry standards.
- Monitor and manage payor accounts to ensure accurate billing, timely payments, and compliance with guidelines.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding open accounts, billed, unbilled, or held claims.
- Stay current with payer billing requirements and implement process improvements as needed.
- Collaborate with leadership to design, communicate, and implement reporting, policies, and SOPs.
- Analyze billing operations data, identify trends, and make recommendations to optimize cash collections.
- Enforce HR policies, attendance, dress code, and workplace guidelines.
- Support onboarding of new staff and development of team members.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience supervising and managing staff.
- 7+ years’ experience in healthcare collections (hospital and physician practices).
- Experience with out-of-network collections and multiple payer types (Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance).
- Strong knowledge of insurance billing guidelines and collection processes.
- Experience with billing, coding, and credentialing processes.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as GoRev.
- Compassionate, collaborative, and team-oriented leader.
- Ability to motivate staff and drive departmental success.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement.
- Excellent communication skills with providers, payors, and team members.
