  • Responsibilities
    • Provide personalized care and service following I CARE values:

    • Collaborate with inter-professional team to ensure clear communication and a seamless patient experience.
    • Involve patients in shift/handoff reports and plan of care as applicable.

    • Refer to departmental Scope of Service and Provision of Care for description of primary age groups served.
  • Service Essential Functions
    • Coordinate timely patient care between health care providers and other clinicians under physician supervision, focused on identified outcomes and patient satisfaction.
    • Collaborate with inter-professional team to manage/coordinate patient care and respond promptly to patient questions or emergencies.
  • Quality/Safety Essential Functions
    • Perform independent or delegated functions under physician license (diagnosis, prescriptive authority, treatment) per guidelines and standing orders.
    • Review medications and test results; respond to critical results and advise on corrective actions.
    • Conduct comprehensive health assessments (initial, ongoing, discharge) and develop and evaluate care plans for defined patient populations.
    • Contribute to patient safety through protocol development and adherence to professional practice standards.
  • Finance Essential Functions
    • Document accurately in medical records (diagnosis and CPT coding).
    • Support department strategies to achieve financial targets and improve efficiency and care documentation.
  • Growth/Innovation Essential Functions
    • Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve patient care and department operations; participate in projects and committees.
    • Provide education and professional development; maintain ongoing My Development Plan.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Demonstrate clinical leadership, participate in rounding, and serve as a preceptor for PA students and residents as appropriate.
    • Foster healthy work relationships, promote teamwork, and support workload balance.
  • Work Experience
    • One year of clinical experience
  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program by NCCPA
  • Licenses And Certifications – Required
    • PA – State Licensure by the Texas Board of Physician Assistants
    • PA-C – Physician Assistant-Certified (NCCPA)
    • BLS – Basic Life Support (AHA)
    • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA)
    • DEA – Narcotics License (DEA) 6 months
  • Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
    • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members with a customer service focus.
    • Strong clinical judgment and autonomy as defined by the Board of Physician Assistants.
    • Time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks; effective teamwork and collaboration.
