Townsen Memorial Hospital, located in West Houston (77072), is looking for a Pharmacist to join our team. This role requires travel between facilities in Humble and Houston.

• Dispensing prescription medicines and supplies.
• Working with other medical personnel to provide treatments and advice to patients.
• Recording patient histories relating to medicinal use.
• Ensuring the safe and secure storage of all medicines and hospital supplies.
• Preparing medicines and conducting quality checks when individual drug components need to be mixed.
• Staying up to date on pharmacy regulations, treatments and developments in research and design.
• Serving patients by preparing medications, providing pharmacological information to the multidisciplinary health care team, and monitoring patient drug therapies.
• Preparing medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders and detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
• Dispensing medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
• Controlling medications by monitoring drug therapies, advising interventions.
• Completing pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians’ workflow, verifying preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, and verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
• Providing pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals and counseling patients on drug therapies.
• Developing hospital staff’s pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs and training pharmacy staff, students, interns, externs, residents, and health care professionals.
• Complying with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration.
• Maintaining records for controlled substances and removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory.
• Supervising the work results of support personnel.
• Maintaining current registration, studying existing and new legislation, anticipating legislation, and advising management on needed actions.
• Protecting patients and technicians by adhering to infection‑control protocols.
• Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Performing other related duties as assigned to support the hospital.

• Knowledge of pharmacology principles and procedures and the laws and regulations pertaining to the receipt, storage, and dispensation of drugs.
• Skill in the operation of pharmaceutical equipment and in the use of computer and applicable software.
• Ability to prepare and dispense pharmaceuticals; evaluate drug therapies; interpret and apply policies, laws, and rules; communicate effectively; and supervise the work of others.

• Graduate degree from an accredited pharmacy college recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
• Registered Pharmacist in the State of Texas; license must remain active and unencumbered while employed.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.

Compensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Employment for this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
