IN PERSON Bilingual Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPa)

RCM Health Care is looking for a part time BILINGUAL SPANISH Speech Language Pathologist Assistant to work in Houston, TX, at a charter school located Central Northwest area (zip 77092). Caseload is about 15 students now, and will grow.

Speech Language Pathologist Assistant Overview
  • Working hours:

    Mon-Fri 8am-3pm, in person only
  • Caseload between 2 full time bilingual SLPs is 65 students, mostly preschool, some elementary aged (both campuses are PreK-5th grade)
  • School will provide training on programs/policies/procedures
  • School will assist with scheduling services/students
Speech Language Pathologist Assistant Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders or related field
  • Valid Texas License in Speech-Language Pathology Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Ability to work with school and community population
  • Ability to work independently
Speech Language Pathologist Assistant Primary Purpose
  • Serve as the speech-language pathologist responsible for diagnosing speech and language disorders and implementing programs designed to increase a student’s speech, language, and communication development.
Speech Language Pathologist Assistant Major Duties And Responsibilities
  • Conduct formal and informal evaluations and re-evaluations as well as all other professional activities consistent with timelines and requirements of the law, rules and regulations, and local district policies and procedures.
  • Compile formal and informal information from a variety of sources into a written report to assist in the determination of eligibility, educational need and identification of programming needs utilizing the district’s template.
  • Coordinate and/or participate as a member of the ARD committee. Ensure that all documents are completed and meetings held within legal timelines.
  • Translate appraisal data into research-based, appropriate, and relevant speech and language programs.
  • Develop measurable IEP objectives and annual goals.
  • Plan, prepare and provide research-based therapy interventions according to the student’s current schedule of services.
  • Provide services in an inclusive setting, when appropriate, and coordinate intervention with general education staff.
  • Keep meaningful and accurate data for each session with every student on assigned caseload.
  • Provide consultation to campus RTI committee.
  • Function as a consultant in speech and language to parents and staff as required.
  • Participate in staffings of students served when requested.
  • Participate with district in-services, parent training, and public awareness presentations regarding communication with a variety of needs.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of evaluations, ARD meetings, and related activities.
  • Complete progress notes according to the district schedule for every student on assigned caseload by the designated due date utilizing relevant data and reporting objective information.
  • Monitor student audit folders, including filling all required paperwork, in a timely manner.
  • Supervise licensed assistants in speech-language pathology, Clinical Fellowship Year intern, students, and mentor fellow speech-language pathologists SLPs as assigned.
  • Follow billing and reimbursement procedures for Medicaid and other needed documentation such as time studies.
  • Complete required district caseload studies, logs, and Childhood Outcome Summaries by requested due dates.
  • Attend monthly campus speech-language pathologists meetings and all required training.
  • Use technology to organize information, schedule meetings and/or staffing’s, develop and maintain ARD documentation and produce written materials.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and skills by engaging in professional development activities.
