The Staff Occupational Therapist assumes part and/or full-time clinical responsibility in an assigned facility. This professional position primarily involves evaluating patients and providing direct patient care. Additional administrative duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:- MS/OTD in Occupational Therapy
- Current license in the state
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of state and federal accreditation standards
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 2 hours) without interruptions
- Ability to push, pull, move, or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a height of 4 feet or carry 50 lbs. a minimum of 2 feet
- Ability to perform all patient transfers safely and effectively, including stand pivot, two-person, sliding board, Hoyer lift, and non-weight bearing transfers, with or without mechanical devices
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently throughout the day
- Willingness to assist with resident evacuation during emergencies
- Must pass medical and physical examinations as per job requirements
- Willingness to work with residents and patients who are severely physically, emotionally, or cognitively compromised
- Ability to follow directions from team members to promote patient safety and treatment
- Willingness to work in environments with risks of injury, exposure to infections, waste, and odors
- Ability to cope with emotional stress related to working with patients, families, and coworkers
- Ability to work independently with periodic support and guidance
- Basic computer skills or ability to learn them

- Understanding and compliance with facility policies and procedures
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
Skills:
- Adequate visual, hearing, and sensory skills to ensure safety
- Screen, evaluate, and treat facility patients/residents needing occupational therapy services
- Review medical information and conduct screenings to determine patient needs
- Perform evaluations under physician orders and develop treatment plans
- Implement treatment plans through direct care, staff education, and supervision of therapy staff
- Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient, facility, and related information
- Accurately document billing information daily
- Attend interdisciplinary and family meetings as appropriate
- Adhere to documentation and departmental policies and procedures
- Supervise certified occupational therapy assistants and aides as permitted by law
- Contribute positively to the team through collaboration and communication
- Provide excellent customer service with professionalism and courtesy
