• Assess patients and develop and initiate treatment plans based on evaluation results, including measurement of physical, cognitive, perceptual and/or developmental skills relevant to maximizing independence in occupational performance.
• Provide direct patient care and document findings, progress, and instructions to patients and caregivers.
• Assist Level III occupational therapists and director with program development; serve as a resource to staff OTs.
• Provide training and guidance to students and interns; supervise assistants and rehabilitation technicians with regard to individual patient care.
• Implements an occupational therapy treatment program and demonstrates competency in basic OT skills; monitor patient progress and adjust goals or plans as indicated.
• Communicate effectively with patients/caregivers and professional colleagues, including physicians and insurance companies.
• Present relevant topics in professional settings as delegated or requested; manage time effectively; document appropriately in the medical record and complete other documentation duties accurately and efficiently.
• May serve as Clinical Instructor for OT or OTA interns; promote safe care and adhere to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, standards, and budgetary specifications including time and supply management, productivity and quality of service.
• Support professional growth through mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; act as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
• Demonstrate commitment to compassionate, personalized experiences and Memorial Hermann service standards for patients and colleagues.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Education: Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based OT program.
• Licenses/Certifications: Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners;
  Current certification in Basic Life Support.
• Experience / Knowledge /
  
  Skills:
  
  Ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds occasionally or frequently, carry up to 30 pounds; prolonged standing; frequent walking, stooping and squatting. Fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Visual ability to monitor instruments/computers, recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors, and observe physical characteristics.
