D or allied health professional (e.g., Ph.D. nursing, counseling, clinical psychology) the foundational scientific and career development training necessary for a successful career in academia and health services research. This is a two-year fellowship program. The fellow will receive research training and individualized one-on-one research mentoring, supported by a multidisciplinary team of investigators with social, behavioral, public health, and clinical expertise in minority health and health disparity research.
This is a full-time research training experience that includes opportunities to conduct clinical, social, and/or behavioral research using community-based participatory methods. The ideal candidate for this position will be an individual who completed the Doctor of Pharmacy or a doctoral allied health professional (e.g. nursing, counseling, clinical psychology) program with a desire to pursue academia career. The objectives of the fellowship are to train the fellow to become an independent investigator pursuing an academic position (e.g. Assistant Professor).
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:The Postdoctoral Fellow is a specialized healthcare professional train in clinical practice, health service research, and academia. The Postdoctoral Fellow is a highly collaborative, self-motivated, creative person who is adaptable to new processes with capacity to function independently. The Postdoctoral Fellow is interested in community-engagement research practices and evidence-based clinical practice.
This is a Grant Funded position.
Research Training and Education (~40%)
- Participate in formalized research training curriculum and seminars
- Complete the University’s teaching certificate program
- Obtains CITI credentialing and/or other required training for biomedical research
- Complete research tasks assigned by mentors
- Conduct literature search and review research topics
- Participate and present in multidisciplinary journal club
- Prepare and present research findings at local and national conferences
- Prepare and submit manuscripts for publications
- Prepare applications for funding, as appropriate to fellow’s research interests and goals
- Plans, participates, and facilitates diverse community engagement and health outreach program
- Plans, prepares, participates, and facilitates focus groups and community engagement studio for on diverse health related topic
- Provide health professional services in a clinical setting
- Support teaching and learning in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences program through lectures, interactive lessons, and assessments in health-related topics
- Precept/supervise students and community health workers at clinical site

Hiring Range:Commensurate with experience.
Education:Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.
D.) or equivalent allied health doctoral degree from an accredited institution with active license in the state of Texas in good standing or able to acquire licensure within 90 days after employment.
Preferred:
- Candidate must obtain a professional license (if applicable) to practice in the State of Texas within 90 days of employment
- Additional training or certification in public health, social determinants of health, or related fields is preferred
- Bilingual e.g.:
Spanish, Asian dialects, etc.
Skill in:
- Demonstrated skills in computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft outlook, Teams, office 365)
- Ability to work in a team-based environment.
- Conscience to details in study planning, data collection and analysis
