Special Operations Performance Dietitian (5th SFG, Fort Campbell, KY)
We are seeking a stellar Special Operations Performance Dietitian to provide guidance and counseling on nutritional practices to enhance recovery and optimize performance for special operations forces (SOF) personnel, primarily SOF Operators and Direct Combat Support on the Preservation of the Force and Family (POTFF) contract at K .
Responsibilities- Perform administrative and clinical duties within scope.
- Provide evidence‑based nutritional planning, counseling, and documentation.
- Advise chain of command on nutrition and performance nutrition issues.
- Order labs as within scope and deliver individual and group counseling.
- Design and implement performance nutrition programs for SOF personnel in garrison, TAD/TDY, and deployed settings.
- Develop nutritional protocols for rehabilitation and performance.
- Collaborate with HP program manager/Coordinator on new protocols.
- Serve as advisor on dining facility nutrition, liaison between food service and command.
- Assist other regional SOF assets as required.
- Attend meetings with POTFF staff and medical personnel as required.
- Advising on supplements and performance‑enhancing substances within the POTFF program.
- Ensure educational materials and sports nutrition supplies are available.
- Assume supply inventory duties and input on needs.
- Maintain safe working condition of equipment and facilities.
- Update records and participate in in‑service training.
- Attend required training and conferences for continuing education.
- Maintain 100% compliance with mandatory command training.
- Participate in peer review and quality assurance cycles.
- Develop and deliver training materials as requested.
- Perform other tasks within scope, as assigned.
- Document work in EHR and HP databases per HP program manager instructions.
- Collect and report data to HP program manager and USSOCOM HQ.
- Use computers, software, and technologies as required.
- U.S. citizenship and Secret clearance (or ability to obtain).
- Master’s degree in Nutrition Science or related field.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) accredited by ADA and Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) within 6 months of employment.
- State certification/licensure, and possible clinical practice privileges.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Performance Dietitian with athletes and SOF operators, preferably recent embedded experience with Army/Marine Corps infantry units.
- Fluent oral and written communication in English.
- Physical ability to hike rough terrain, lift up to 25 kg, and assist with SOF training protocols.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification and proof of training.
- Desired: prior military or SOF experience and CSCS certification.
