Clinical Pharmacist – Emergency Department | Level 1 Trauma Center
Location: On-site | Fort Sam Houston, TX 78208
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM CT
Compensation: $57.69–$67.30/hour + $5K–$10K Sign-On Bonus
Our client, a healthcare organization supporting a military base, is seeking an experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join its Emergency Department team at a Level 1 Trauma Center. This role offers the opportunity to practice in a high-acuity environment while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary clinical teams.
What You’ll Do- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize medication therapy.
- Provide direct patient care, including treatment assessments and medication management.
- Respond to Level 1 trauma activations, code blue events, and massive blood transfusion emergencies.
- Monitor and manage drug therapies, including pharmacokinetics, renal and hepatic dosing, and antibiotic stewardship.
- Interpret and verify medication orders, ensuring accurate dispensing and documentation.
- Facilitate discharge planning and provide patient medication education.
- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of clinical protocols.
- Provide drug information and therapeutic guidance to healthcare professionals.
- Monitor adverse drug reactions, polypharmacy, and high-dose medication risks.
- Residency & Experience (one of the following):
- Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency and an ASHP-accredited PGY2 in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care Pharmacy.
- OR Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency plus 3 years of practical clinical experience in Emergency Medicine, with BPS board certification.
- Current, unrestricted Texas pharmacist license.
- BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Ability to meet ASHP-Qualified Residency Preceptor standards within one year of employment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college or university.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Preferred:
- Board certification.
- Prior inpatient pharmacy experience.
On-site role within a medical facility. Driving may be required.
