Job Summary
Assesses patients then develops and initiates treatment plans based on evaluation results. The evaluation may include measurement of physical, cognitive, perceptual, and developmental skills related to maximizing independence in occupational performance across the lifespan. Provides direct patient care, documents findings, progress, and instructions to patients and caregivers. Assists Level III occupational therapists and leadership with program development. Serves as a resource to staff OTs, providing training and guidance to students and interns.
Responsible for patient care performed by assistants and rehabilitation technicians.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's or higher degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational Therapy program
Licenses/Certifications: Current license to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners and current Basic Life Support certification
Experience/Knowledge/
Skills:
Occasional to frequent lifting up to 75-100 pounds, carrying up to 30 pounds; prolonged standing; frequent walking, stooping, and squatting.
Fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination, effective oral and written communication skills.
Visual ability to monitor instruments, recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors, and observe physical characteristics.
Principal Accountabilities
Complete comprehensive patient evaluations, interpret findings, develop written plans of care with goals, and create programs to achieve those goals.
Implement and assess advanced occupational therapy treatments, supervise assistants and technicians, and motivate patients and caregivers.
Communicate effectively with staff, patients, caregivers, physicians, and insurance companies.
Manage time efficiently, document accurately, and serve as a clinical resource and mentor to staff, students, and the community.
Pursue clinical expertise, participate in committees, and present educational topics and research findings.
Ensure safe patient care, adhere to policies and standards, and support professional growth and organizational goals.
Demonstrate commitment to compassionate, personalized care and uphold Memorial Hermann’s service standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
