- Interviews, screens, consents, and recruits patients for studies; explains processes and procedures to educate participants about the research study.
- Collects patient information; processes documents and enters information into a database. May perform venipuncture (blood draws), record clinical history, collect phenotype data, and obtain vital signs on study participants.
- Experience with electronic medical record system EPIC and REDCap database management is preferred but not required.
- May collect, process, and ship samples in addition to maintaining paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens according to procedures outlined in the study protocol.
- Employees may be required to receive on-the-job phlebotomy training prior to performing procedures on study participants.
- Maintains records and regulatory documents for research studies.
- Schedules research participants for tests and procedures, such as laboratory tests, X-rays, and other studies specified by the research protocol.
- Retrieves and submits test results to the appropriate party.
- May correspond with patients throughout the study.
- Orders supplies and equipment.
