We’re looking for a MFM Ultrasonographer II, someone who’s ready to grow with our company. In this position, you will perform routine and comprehensive ultrasound examinations for interpretation by the Maternal Fetal Medicine and Radiology faculty using specialized ultrasound equipment.

The diagnostic ultra-sonographer is able to obtain, review, and integrate pertinent patient history and supporting clinical data to facilitate optimal diagnostic results; perform appropriate procedures and record anatomic, pathologic, and/or physiologic data for interpretation by the physician; record and process sonographic images and other pertinent observations made during the procedure; exercise discretion and judgment in the performance of the diagnostic exam;

provide patient education related to the ultrasound procedure; and adhere to the standards of care and maintaining a safe environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs high-quality diagnostic ultrasound imaging exams in accordance with established department guidelines and protocols. Be able to independently scan routine and comprehensive ultrasound under the supervision of the MFM Physicians. Maintains high standards of medical ethics and is self-motivated to increase understanding and knowledge of the field, disease processes, and new procedures.
  • Verifies patient identification and reviews that the requested procedure correlates with the patient’s clinical history.
  • Reviews clinical information, including relevant personal and family history, exposures, and other risk factors. Includes review of prior imaging reports or images.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, explains procedures, and responds to questions and concerns.
  • Performs procedures and records data for interpretation by the faculty.
  • Uses independent judgment during exams to differentiate between normal and abnormal findings.
  • Extends the scope of exams based on pathology or findings.
  • Reviews images for accuracy, technique, and completeness, and adjusts technical factors as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of anatomy, pathology, hemodynamics, and ultrasound physics.
  • Records and processes sonographic images and observations for presentation to the interpreting physician, ensuring documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Completes ultrasound examinations within designated time frames.
  • Prepares reports and communicates technical findings to physicians.
  • Performs ultrasound guidance services during procedures like amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, and fetal interventions.
  • Performs first and second trimester screening, assessments, and Doppler evaluations.
  • Identifies abnormalities and takes additional images as needed.
  • Introduced to 3D imaging and demonstrates proficiency in ultrasound equipment and electronic medical records.
  • Ensures patient safety, comfort, and well-being.
  • Participates in accreditation and quality improvement activities.
  • Communicates with patients regarding delays or procedures.
  • Works independently, seeks guidance when necessary, and participates in professional development.
  • Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and performs other relevant functions.
  • Skills & Requirements
    • Technical diploma or degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field.
    • ARDMS-OB certification required; additional certifications preferred.
    • Minimum 2 years Maternal Fetal Medicine scanning experience or 4 years Ultrasound experience.
