Job Requisition: U.S. Customs Compliance Specialist
Position Overview: We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented U.S. Customs Compliance Specialist with expertise in policy and procedure implementation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our company's import activities comply with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations. This role requires an ability to work in a fast-paced environment while possessing an openness to learn and understand new concepts and evolving frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Policy & Procedure Implementation: Implement NOV’s customs compliance policies & procedures across all relevant departments, ensuring adherence to regulations and minimizing the risk of non-compliance.
- Customs Entry Processing: Oversee the timely and accurate preparation & submission of customs entries, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements.
- Entry Review & Monitoring: Conduct regular post entry reviews and assessments to evaluate accuracy of our Customs brokers, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Broker Management: Manage relationships with customs brokers and other service providers, ensuring that they meet established performance standards and comply with all contractual obligations.

Education:
Provide training and education to employees involved in import activities to ensure awareness of customs compliance requirements and promote a culture of compliance throughout the organization. - Documentation Management: Oversee the maintenance of accurate and complete customs documentation, including import records, classifications, valuation, and duty calculations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Implement procedural changes in response to instructions from management regarding regulatory policy shifts.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including supply chain, legal, finance, and operations teams, to ensure alignment of customs compliance efforts with overall business objectives.
- Other: Other duties as deemed necessary by the Customs Compliance Manager and/or Director
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of working experience, preferably in a Compliance role.
- Understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, including Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification, valuation, country of origin rules, and free trade agreements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex customs compliance concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist) are a plus.
- Experience navigating ERP and Work Management systems.
