As a Trader, Real Time Power
, you will support short‑term and intermediate power trading by applying advanced commercial judgment, market analysis, and tactical execution. You will help optimize value across markets while maintaining compliance, enhancing customer relationships, and contributing to trading strategy development.
- Purchase, sell, and exchange physical and financial power within defined limits while executing short‑term and intermediate trading strategies.
- Optimize electricity demand and generation assets and monitor transmission utilization.
- Schedule and manage physical and financial power positions using risk and trade‑management systems.
- Analyze market fundamentals, pricing trends, and location‑based opportunities to inform trading decisions.
- Negotiate and manage transactions with producers, traders, and customers while documenting market activity for internal communication.
- Participate in Virtual/FTR markets and contribute to the expansion of product types and regional activity.
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5 or more years of experience enabling independent handling of most trading situations
- Experience purchasing, selling, or exchanging energy commodities
- Experience negotiating structured pricing and contract terms
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Highly analytical, detail‑oriented, and capable of multi‑tasking in fast‑moving markets
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills and ability to build customer and counter party relationships
- Experience with financial risk management, pricing strategy, and supplier/customer negotiations
- Resilience under pressure and ability to adapt to changing market environments
- Ability to analyze complex market information and make timely decisions
This position has a base salary range of $144,000 - $176,000. The role is eligible to participate in the company’s commercial bonus program, offering the opportunity to earn additional compensation based on business and individual performance, in accordance with program guidelines.

The Commercial organization works to effectively leverage assets and market knowledge to create additional value within the risk parameters of the Company. We do this by maximizing general interest profitability, enhancing return on capital employed by successfully partnering with the Refining, Transportation and Marketing functions to ensure Value Chain Integration. Our truck and rail fleets support our feedstock and distribution operations.
Rail movements are provided via a fleet of more than 10,000 owned and leased rail cars. Truck movements are provided through numerous third‑party trucking companies, as well as through our 100 percent‑owned subsidiary, Sentinel Transportation LLC.
