Description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead and manage the financial operations of our organization in Houston, Texas. This role is critical for ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will oversee accounting functions, develop financial policies, and provide leadership to the accounting team while ensuring operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

- Supervise the accounting department, providing leadership and guidance to ensure efficient operations.

- Develop and update financial policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational goals.

- Collaborate on the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and strategic plans.

- Oversee the balance sheet and income statement, ensuring proper format and composition.

- Review and approve daily accounting tasks, monthly reconciliations, and accounts payable payments.

- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including regulatory call reports.

- Manage the preparation of annual and shareholder financial statements in coordination with senior leadership.

- Ensure timely and accurate tax filings for all applicable jurisdictions.

- Serve as a liaison to regulators and external auditors during financial audits and examinations.

- Coordinate special financial projects and administrative reports as assigned.

Requirements

- A minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or financial management.

- Proven expertise in account reconciliation and financial reporting.

- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and internal controls.

- Banking industry experience required

- Excellent leadership and team management skills.

- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, auditors, and regulators.

- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and financial tools.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
