Commercial Analyst

The Analyst, Commercial Structuring & Analytics supports the development of data-driven market insights and commercial analytics across LNG, natural gas, power, and ethane markets. This role contributes to fundamental market analysis, hedging evaluations, market analytics, and transaction support to assist trading, risk management, and commercial teams in informed decision-making.

The position emphasizes strong analytical capabilities, financial and fundamental modeling, and the ability to translate complex market data into clear, actionable insights. The Analyst, Commercial Structuring & Analytics supports commercial strategy, deal structuring, and commercial agreement analysis by evaluating pricing, risk exposure, and contractual terms to ensure alignment with portfolio objectives.

The role collaborates closely with commercial and regulatory stakeholders to ensure regulatory market activities are well-informed and aligned with all stakeholders. The Analyst, Commercial also monitors industry developments, regulatory updates, and evolving supply-demand fundamentals, while responding to ad hoc analytical requests from internal and external stakeholders.

• Strategic Modeling & Commercial Analytics
• Develop and maintain quantitative and/or fundamental models to support market outlooks, portfolio valuation, and strategic decision-making across Texas gulf coast natural gas, power, ethane and related commodities.
• Build forecasting and scenario-based analytical tools to evaluate supply-demand balances, pricing, volatility, risk exposure, hedge effectiveness, and commercial opportunities.
• Translate complex analytical outputs into actionable insights through clear commercial recommendations, dashboards, and visualizations that enhance decision-making across trading and commercial teams.
• Market Strategy & Portfolio Analytics
• Develop position recommendations and hedging strategies supported by quantitative modeling, market fundamentals, and portfolio objectives across Texas gulf coast natural gas, power and ethane markets.
• Evaluate forward curves, basis dynamics, volatility structure, and hedge outcomes to identify risk-adjusted opportunities and optimize portfolio performance under varying market conditions.
• Partner with trading and commercial teams to align strategy, execution timing, and ongoing hedge performance analysis with risk management and financial targets.
• Deal Structuring and Commercial Agreements
• Support structuring of physical and financial commodity transactions by evaluating commercial contractual terms using structuring models and risk adjusted analysis.
• Assist with contract lifecycle support to ensure alignment with commercial strategy and operational capabilities.
• Regulatory & Market Structure Support
• Monitor and collaborate with internal stakeholders on natural gas and power regulatory developments to assess commercial impacts and ensure strategic alignment across the business.
• Provide analytical support related to market rule changes, compliance, and operational risk considerations.

• Build and maintain market models to support pricing outlooks, portfolio valuation, and commercial decision-making across gas, power, and ethane markets.
• Deliver position and hedging recommendations based on forward curve analysis, basis dynamics, volatility, and risk exposure.
• Analyze supply-demand fundamentals and weather impacts, with emphasis on Texas gulf coast natural gas, power markets within ERCOT, NGL and LNG.
• Support deal evaluation and structuring by assessing pricing mechanisms, risk exposure, and contractual terms.
• Partner with trading and risk teams to translate analytics into actionable commercial strategies.
• Ability to adjust to the pace of work within the department, as it may change periodically.
