Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

SUMMARY

Our client, a fast growing pipeline distribution company headquartered in central Houston, is located a few miles east of downtown Houston, and they seek a Controller to join their management team. The company has an incredible track record and reputation, and they are excited about the growth experienced by this business. Our client seeks an experienced and well‑rounded Controller with strong experience in inventory who can grow with the organization and help to establish best‑in‑class policies and procedures.

• Lead all aspects of accounting, A/P, and A/R, and treasury for the company including monthly close, preparation of financial reporting packets, and bank reporting and compliance.
• Work with existing accounting team to learn business and identify areas for process optimization.
• Responsible for inventory accounting and analysis.
• Collaborate with tax advisors to ensure adequate withholding estimates and annual filings are completed on time. This includes sales tax oversight for multiple states.
• Lead annual audit processes and coordinate with external auditors and CPA firm.
• Assist with bank relationships.
• Assist senior management with FP&A activities.
• Manage corporate records.
• Prepare financial analysis for executive management.
• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
• Perform ad hoc financial and operational analysis to improve business work flows and optimize business results.
• Responsible for outsourced payroll (Insperity) and benefits for this division.
• Work closely with operations and sales teams to ensure accurate financial information is provided.

• Must have accounting and finance technical proficiency with a strong attention to detail.
• Must have a strong business acumen and experience working with operations and internal teams outside of accounting and finance.
• Must have excellent communication skills and a superior ability to lead others and develop relationships.
• Must have a fiduciary mindset.
• Must have strong inventory accounting skills.
• Big 4 audit experience followed by industry accounting leadership experience is a plus.
• Must be "hands‑on" in the details.
• Experience working in an ERP system environment is required.
