Tax Accountant, Financial Analyst
The Opportunity
Our client is a growing oil and gas exploration and production company with a strong presence in the Appalachian Basin. With continued expansion and increasing regulatory complexity, the organization is looking to add a Corporate Tax Analyst to its Corporate Finance and Tax team.
This role is ideal for a motivated, high-potential professional who wants broad exposure to income tax provisions, partnership tax activities, and transaction-related work in a fast-paced, public-company environment. You’ll play a key role in ensuring timely, accurate tax reporting while gaining hands‑on experience supporting strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions and process automation.
LocationHybrid position based in Houston
, with an expectation of working onsite three days per week.
- Maintain and manage the corporate tax calendar to ensure timely compliance with all filing deadlines
- Assist with the preparation and review of quarterly and annual income tax provisions
- Prepare detailed work papers supporting tax provisions, including identification of book‑to‑tax differences
- Prepare, review, and file estimated tax payments and extension calculations for income and other taxes
- Support partnership‑related tax activities, coordinating with internal business partners as needed
- Prepare and reconcile tax‑related balance sheet accounts, including liabilities and adjustments
- Assist with tax integration activities related to mergers and acquisitions
- Support and coordinate with third‑party tax service providers
- Assist with tax notices, audits, research requests, and special tax projects
- Contribute to tax process improvements, efficiencies, and technology enhancements
- Support the execution of tax initiatives across the broader corporate enterprise
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2+ years of progressive experience in corporate tax and/or public accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analytics tools; experience with Quorum and Black Line strongly preferred
- Familiarity with data analytics platforms or robotic process automation (RPA) tools is a plus
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain tax concepts to non‑tax stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight regulatory deadlines
- Collaborative, team‑oriented mindset with a desire to grow and take on increasing responsibility
