Job Description:

The Trade Entry Analyst reports to the Trade Entry Lead and is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely capture, verification, and reconciliation of trading activity across physical and paper commodity markets.

As part of the Contracts team within the U.S. business, the role supports the Front Office by monitoring daily trade flows, resolving discrepancies, coordinating pricing confirmations, and ensuring data integrity across ETRM systems.

While organizationally aligned within Contracts, this role operates in close partnership with the Front Office and serves as a critical control point between Trading and downstream functions.

This position plays a critical part in operational risk mitigation by validating trade information, ensuring correct exchange submissions, and supporting internal stakeholders-including Trading, Risk, Compliance, Accounting, and Operations-throughout the trade lifecycle.

This role is part of a centralized Contracts team in the U.S., interacting closely with Trading and Middle Office.

While not a managerial role, the position is expected to uphold strong data integrity and act as a first line of defense for operational risk.

Trade Capture & Daily Processing
  • Perform accurate and timely daily entry of all physical and paper trades in the ETRM system (Blackstar).
  • Validate trade details against broker reports, trader instructions, and exchange data; proactively resolve discrepancies.
  • Support the Front Office in monitoring life-cycle events such as pricing, amendments, allocations, or cancellations.
Data Integrity, Controls & Audit
  • Archive communications with counter parties and exchanges to ensure audit-ready documentation.
  • Maintain a robust control environment around trade data, timeliness, and accuracy.
  • Participate in internal control testing and support external or internal audits as required.
  • Maintain complete lifecycle documentation, ensuring pricing events, amendments, and exposure changes are clearly traceable.
  • Serve as a key checkpoint for operational risk by identifying inconsistencies in pricing, volume, counter party, or exchange submissions before downstream impact.
Reconciliations & Reporting
  • Perform daily pricing exposure reconciliation in coordination with Operations and Middle Office.
  • Support end-of-month reconciliation with Back Office/Accounting, ensuring all positions, P&L impacts, and pricing events are correctly reflected.
Maintain consistent communication with Front Office, Risk, and Operations to ensure pricing exposure and lifecycle events are accurately reflected across systems.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively with Compliance to ensure exchange limit monitoring and accurate position reporting.
  • Engage with IT and system support teams to troubleshoot issues and improve ETRM workflows.
  • Support traders on special projects such as pipeline reconciliations, payment investigations, and exposure queries.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify and escalate process inefficiencies and contribute to enhancements in trade entry workflows.
  • Develop understanding of trading structures and market mechanics to improve job performance over time.
  • Partner with IT and business stakeholders to enhance system controls, reporting accuracy, and workflow efficiency within the ETRM environment.
Education (includes formal qualifications, certifications, accreditations, etc)
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Law, or equivalent.
Experience
  • Preferred 1-4 years of experience at Risk or Mid-office level in a related trading company.
  • Basic understanding of financial and Physical trading concepts in commodities trading.
  • Familiarity with physical commodities (e.g., crude oil, refined products, or natural gas) and EFP structures is advantageous.
Skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accuracy under repetitive or time-sensitive conditions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities; able to work independently after training.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with Traders, Managers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrates reliability, including…
