Regulatory Accountant (FERC Experience) – Overview
Work on highly visible, regulated midstream assets with direct exposure to FERC reporting and rate cases. Partner cross-functionally with Planning, Tax, Audit, and Regulatory teams. Gain deep experience in regulated energy accounting (niche, high-demand skillset). Opportunity to drive process improvements and build best practices. Salary: $110k - $125k w/ bonus
Regulatory AccountantKey Responsibilities
- Regulatory & Financial Reporting
- Prepare assigned rate case cost of service schedules and respond to subsequent data requests
- Support quarterly and annual FERC filings for regulated midstream entities
- Quarterly (Form 3Q – assigned pages)
- Annual (Forms 2 & 2A – assigned pages)
- Other regulatory filings as required
- Prepare monthly recurring and adjusting FERC ledger entries
- Perform quarterly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve identified issues timely
- Planning, Tax & Audit Support
- Provide key data to the U.S. Planning & Cost Accounting group for budgeting and forecasting
- Deliver financial information to the Income & Property Tax teams
- Respond to requests from external auditors and Internal Audit
- Process Improvement & Projects
- Identify and execute process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency
- Support special projects and provide cross-training/back-up for team members as needed
- Bachelor’s in Accounting
- Experience with regulated accounting, FERC reporting, or energy/midstream strongly preferred
- Strong reconciliation, journal entry, and financial analysis experience
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage deadlines and compliance requirements
- Excel proficiency; SAP/Workiva
