The Controller is responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations. This role is hands‑on and operational, responsible for accurate financial reporting, job costing, cash flow management, and internal controls. The Controller partners closely with operations, sales, and project management to ensure profitability, cost control, and financial visibility across fabrication, installation, and service projects

Day‑to‑day responsibilities include but are not limited to

• Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including A/R, A/P, general ledger, and month‑end close
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Analyze financial results and provide clear insights to leadership
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and applicable tax and regulatory requirements
• Monitor budget performance and analyze variances to identify areas for improvement

• Oversee job costing for custom sign projects, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead
• Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and percentage-of-completion accounting
• Partner with project managers to track budgets, margins, change orders, and job profitability
• Identify cost overruns and recommend corrective actions

• Manage inventory valuation, raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
• Ensure accurate tracking of material usage, scrap, and variances
• Support physical inventory counts and cycle counts
• Analyze production costs and manufacturing efficiency

• Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital
• Oversee billing, collections, and vendor payments
• Maintain banking relationships and manage credit facilities
• Ensure timely and accurate customer invoicing tied to project milestones
• Manage cash flow
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the finance department
• Set priorities, review work, and ensure deadlines are met
• Build a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Lead and develop the accounting team, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and drive results

• Maintain and improve accounting systems, job costing tools, and reporting processes
• Improve efficiency by streamlining workflows between accounting, operations, and project teams
• Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial information
• Continuously assess and improve financial processes and systems
• Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures

• Manage the annual audit process and provide support to auditors as needed
• Provide support in the preparation and filing of all tax returns and documentation
• Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations
• Work with external tax advisors and auditors to optimize tax strategies

● Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred

● 5+ years of experience in a controller or similar leadership role

● Proficiency in Net Suite and Microsoft Office Suite with Advanced Excel skills

● Hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and comfortable in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment

● Experience in manufacturing, construction, fabrication, or project‑based environments strongly preferred

● Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion accounting

● Knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards

● Experience with financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting

● Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team

● Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non‑financial managers

● Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams
