Description:
Job Summary
The Financial Aid Counselor II assists prospective and current students with all matters related to acquiring and maintaining financial aid.
Duties
* Completes the verification process for students; verifies that the information provided on FAFSA correctly reflects the information on the IRS Tax Transcript
* Reviews each ISIR file to determine if it needs to be loaded into People Soft for review
* Reviews student Satisfactory Academic Plan appeals
* Determines if progress has been made
* Suspends students and removes aid if no progress is made
* Liaises with students as necessary via email, phone, or in-person to keep them up-to-date with their status
* Runs reports and queries

Qualifications
Required
Education:
* Bachelor's degree
Required Experience:
* Minimum of three (3) years of related job experience
License/Certification:
* None required

Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge:
* Understanding of federal and state regulations that govern financial aid eligibility in higher education, and the related trends, issues, and accepted practices
* Knowledge of relevant Department of Education websites, including COD, NSLDS. and FAA Access
Skills:
* Good technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office and People Soft; strong analytical and problem
* solving skills
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Abilities:
* Ability to use independent judgment
* Ability to multitask
* Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
Work Location and Physical Demands

Work Location:
* Works in an office environment
Physical Demands:
* Work is performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements
* Individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks
* Must have precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors
* Must have the ability to move items of up to 15lbs
