Director of Finance And Accounting

Global Energy industry company, Hourston, TX seeks Accounting Director to build and lead its U.S. accounting function. This newly created role offers broad responsibility across accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Hybrid-Houston area

Salary:
Up to $200,000 (Base, DOE)

This position requires a hands-on management style (MUST).

The ideal candidate is comfortable leading a team while remaining closely involved in day-to-day accounting activities.

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in accordance with US GAAP
• Oversee external audits and coordinate with auditors and tax advisors
• Manage hands-on accounting operations and mentor accounting staff
• Provide guidance on technical accounting matters, including M&A, impairment, hedge accounting, and derivatives
• Strengthen internal controls and support accounting process improvements
• Drive system enhancements and automation initiatives
• Prepare financial reports and analysis for internal stakeholders
• Collaborate with global and regional finance teams

• Experience in the energy industry
• Experience in an international / global environment
• Strong accounting knowledge related to trading
  , including hedge accounting and derivatives
• Prior executive-level experience (Director / Controller / VP level)

• Public accounting background (ideally Big 4, 5–7 years, Manager level)
• CPA
• M&A and tax-related accounting knowledge
• Experience working with Japanese companies
  , with an understanding of HQ-driven decision-making and collaboration with Japan
