Day In The Life

Under the direction of the Director, Tax, the Senior Manager, Tax will serve as a key leader for individual and pass-through investment entity tax compliance and planning. The role will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and members of the Tax Department to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and to support strategic tax planning for shareholders and their related ventures, investments, and businesses.

The role encompasses oversight of tax matters for privately held companies, investment vehicles (including fund investments and operating businesses), as well as individuals and trusts, with responsibilities spanning income, gift, and residency planning. The Senior Manager, Tax must be able to clearly and effectively communicate complex tax concepts to a broad range of cross‑functional and business stakeholders.

As a Sr Manager, Tax You Will
  • Oversee accurate and compliant tax reporting for shareholders, trusts, and privately held entities, with significant emphasis on complex flow‑through structures.
  • Perform expert‑level review of federal income tax returns for individuals (Form 1040), trusts (Form 1041), partnerships (Form 1065), and S corporations (Form 1120S), as well as required state and local filings.
  • Perform expert‑level review of quarterly and annual tax estimates and extension payments for shareholders and related entities, ensuring accuracy, alignment with underlying tax positions, and consistency across filings.
  • Evaluate complex tax positions, allocations, elections, and disclosures.
  • Review and reconcile Schedule K-1s across multiple entities and tiers, ensuring consistency of reporting among related parties.
  • Identify, resolve, and elevate technical, data, and compliance issues.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external service providers to ensure timely, high‑quality filings and adherence to internal controls.
  • Partner with tax leadership and external advisors to develop and implement tax‑efficient planning strategies for shareholders and related structures.
  • Support income, gift, and estate tax planning for tax‑efficient intergenerational wealth transfers.
  • Provide tax guidance related to family initiatives, new ventures, and evolving ownership structures.
  • Plan and execute tax strategies related to philanthropic activities and private foundations.
  • Identify and mitigate U.S. state tax residency risks and coordinate with international tax teams on foreign jurisdiction considerations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director, Business Tax and Director, International Tax to align shareholder tax planning with domestic and international operating business strategies, entity structuring, and cross‑border considerations.
  • Lead and support process improvement initiatives related to shareholder tax compliance and planning, including workflow, documentation, and coordination enhancements.
