Sales & Use Tax Consultant

Our client, a remote-first company, is seeking a skilled Tax Consultant. This role will take ownership of managing third-party providers responsible for Sales & Use Tax, Property Tax, and Direct Tax compliance. The consultant will also handle business license registrations across applicable jurisdictions and support the preparation and review of tax filings. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented tax professional to support a high-growth environment with broad exposure to state and local tax matters.

Duration: 3+ months

Location: Remote

Compensation: $45 – $55/hour

Please note this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience.

• Manage external tax providers responsible for various indirect and direct tax filings.
• Coordinate the registration and renewal of business licenses with applicable states and municipalities.
• Support the preparation and review of federal and state tax returns.
• Assist with tax planning initiatives and compliance enhancements.
• Provide audit support and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
• Evaluate tax processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce risk.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or Master’s in Taxation is a plus.
• Strong experience managing corporate tax matters, including indirect tax and licensing compliance.
• Proficiency in coordinating with third-party providers and interpreting tax regulations.
• Solid understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws.
• Advanced tax research and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Strong communication abilities and comfort working in a remote, collaborative environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal oversight.
• High ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality and accuracy.
