Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to provide hands-on financial leadership and ensure the accuracy and stability of accounting operations during a transitional period. This role is well-suited for a seasoned accounting professional who can step in quickly, lead day-to-day accounting functions, and support the organization through change.

• Oversee month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements and reconciliations
• Lead, mentor, and support a small accounting team to maintain strong daily operations
• Manage complex accounting areas such as grants, contracts, or project-based funding, including compliance and reporting as applicable
• Partner with department leaders to review budgets, monitor financial performance, and support informed decision-making
• Prepare financial analyses and narratives that explain results, highlight variances, and support leadership reporting
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting to enhance efficiency and accuracy

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including oversight of month-end close and financial reporting
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and internal controls
• Proven leadership ability with experience guiding teams and collaborating cross-functionally
• Ability to step in quickly, operate independently, and add value immediately
