Overview
Tax Professional – Planning & Compliance We’re hiring a skilled tax professional to support clients with tax planning and compliance matters. Our firm serves high-net-worth individuals as well as small- to middle-market businesses. In this role, you’ll work with business owners, individuals, trusts, and estates to optimize tax strategies, provide forward-looking planning advice, and prepare accurate, timely tax returns. You’ll play a key role in helping clients understand complex tax issues and make informed financial decisions.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with experience using professional tax software—especially CCH Axcess or Pro System fx—and the ability to translate technical tax concepts into clear, practical guidance. - Advise clients on tax planning strategies to ensure compliance while minimizing current and future tax liabilities
- Conduct tax research to resolve complex planning and compliance questions and provide guidance to both clients and internal team members
- Prepare and file federal and state tax returns for individuals, businesses, trusts, and estates
- Communicate with taxing authorities as needed on behalf of clients
- Educate clients on tax return processes, documentation requirements, and filing deadlines to ensure timely compliance
- Identify and apply all eligible credits, deductions, and tax elections available to clients
- Review and analyze financial records, including income statements, prior-year tax returns, and supporting documentation, to determine taxable income
- Communicate professionally with clients via phone and email to coordinate document collection, clarify tax matters, and support accurate tax return preparation
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (Master’s in Taxation a plus)
- 2–4 years of public accounting tax experience
- Experience preparing federal and state tax returns for individuals and closely held businesses
- Exposure to pass-through entities (S corporations and partnerships) preferred
- Familiarity with trusts and estates is a plus, but not required
- Ability to research tax issues and apply guidance with appropriate supervision
- Experience using professional tax software, particularly CCH Axcess Tax and/or Pro System fx
- Strong understanding of common tax deductions, credits, and elections
- Excellent attention to detail with a high standard for accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Professional demeanor and a client-service mindset
- Desire to continue developing technical skills and grow within a public accounting environment
- Compensation: $70,000 - $90,000 annually based on experience
