Commercial Risk Analyst – Energy / Commodities
A leading U.S. energy company is seeking a Commercial Risk Analyst to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of trading, risk, and finance, analyzing physical and financial commodity portfolios.
What You’ll Do- Produce daily mark-to-market P&L and risk exposure reports for front-office and management
- Monitor portfolios against internal limits and controls
- Explain daily P&L changes, including curve shifts and new or updated deals
- Support value-at-risk (VAR) calculations and troubleshoot portfolio valuations
- Collaborate with traders, schedulers, and finance teams
- Contribute to process improvements and the development of new reporting tools
- Mentor junior analysts and share system expertise
- 2–7 years of professional experience in Finance, Risk, Trading, or Operations on a commodity trading floor
- Experience with ETRM systems, particularly Right Angle, or similar platforms
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with analytics tools (Power BI, Alteryx, Excel)
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities
- Exposure to energy commodities (crude, refined products, natural gas, or related)

Location:
Houston, TX (hybrid flexibility considered)
Salary: $120,000 to $150,000 + bonus + benefits depending on experience
