Role OverviewThe VP of Finance will serve as the company’s senior accounting and financial operations leader, responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls while partnering closely with leadership to support sound decision‑making and profitable growth.
This is a hands‑on role ideal for a detail‑oriented finance leader who enjoys owning the close, improving processes, and building structure in an operating environment. The VP of Finance will play a critical role in ensuring accurate reporting, cash discipline, and financial visibility across the organization.
This is an in‑office role based out of the Houston office, with regular interaction across operations, leadership, and external partners.
Key Responsibilities- Own the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries
- Ensure financial reporting is compliant with GAAP and company policies
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures
- Support annual budgeting and rolling forecasts in partnership with leadership
- Analyze revenue, margins, labor costs, and operating expenses
- Prepare variance analyses and provide clear explanations of financial results
- Develop and maintain KPIs and financial dashboards to support operational decision‑making
- Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing processes
- Monitor collections, vendor payments, and working capital trends
- Support banking relationships and financing activity as needed
- Oversee sales tax, use tax, payroll tax, and income tax compliance
- Coordinate annual audits and work closely with external CPA firms and tax advisors
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual, and lender requirements
- Partner closely with Operations, HR, and leadership on financial and operational initiatives
- Support job costing, labor tracking, and service margin analysis
- Assist with compensation modeling, incentives, and workforce planning
- Improve financial systems, reporting tools, and processes as the company scales
- Support financial diligence and integration for acquisitions or new initiatives as applicable
- Provide financial analysis for new service offerings, territories, or capital investments
- ~5–7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, controllership, or operational finance
- Strong experience owning the month‑end close and financial reporting
- Background in construction, field services, industrial services, or similar operating environments strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and working capital management
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- CPA or MBA a plus
- Based in or willing to commute to the Houston area
- Base Salary: Approximately $140,000‑150,000, commensurate with experience
- Bonus: Annual performance‑based bonus opportunity
