Cost Control Advisor

Under the direction of the Cost Control Manager, the individual supports Cost Control for Major E&P production assets.

• Lead cost control for high-value producing oil & gas assets, delivering actionable financial insights and strategic recommendations to the VP-Asset Manager and senior leadership to optimize project profitability and align with corporate objectives.
• Direct the creation, execution, and optimization of annual budgets and long-term plan for major production projects with a combined $350M budget, ensuring robust financial planning and alignment with strategic goals.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for financial matters with the Operator, fostering strong relationships, ensuring alignment on cost objectives, and driving effective communication to support project success.
• Spearhead all facets of project financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting, value of work done (VOWD), variance analysis, and monthly close processes, ensuring precision, compliance, and strategic alignment with organizational priorities.
• Collaborate closely with the VP-Asset Manager, project management teams, financial reporting, and the Operator to align cost control strategies with project goals, providing executive-level insights to drive informed decision-making.
• Design and enforce sophisticated cost budgets and monitoring systems, leveraging project economic modeling to optimize financial performance and mitigate risks across high-stakes projects.
• Actively participate in Operator technical meetings to evaluate operational deviations or work program changes, delivering expert analysis on budgetary impacts to inform strategic decisions by the VP-Asset Manager.
• Deliver comprehensive, data-driven variance analyses for budgets and forecasts, producing executive decision support packages and presentations to empower the VP-Asset Manager and senior leadership with actionable financial intelligence.
• Oversee the preparation of precise monthly cost estimates, accruals, and monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts, ensuring high-quality deliverables that support strategic planning and executive decision-making.
• Drive project digitalization initiatives to enhance cost tracking, reporting, and analytics, delivering operational efficiencies, synergies, and innovative process improvements that elevate financial performance.
• Direct all aspects of General & Administrative budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with corporate financial objectives and operational efficiency.
• Oversee all required financial reconciliations, implementing rigorous controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Strategically partner with Reporting, Property Accounting, and shared services teams to streamline financial operations, enhance reporting accuracy, and drive process efficiencies across the organization.
• Champion project digitalization initiatives to deliver operational efficiencies, synergies, and process innovation.
• Lead internal and external audit processes for joint venture projects, providing comprehensive documentation, cost-related insights, and strategic recommendations to ensure compliance and transparency.

• Process and review invoices to ensure compliance with the commercial terms of contracts and correct coding of costs.
• Support the Contracts & Procurement function by creating PRs and assisting in expediting PR/PO approval processes.

• Prepare accurate and timely trackers for Cash Calls, Joint Interest Billings, Working Capital for management review.
• Ad Hoc requests.

• Ensuring all cost control activities are performed at an exceptional standard.
• Developing the models and tools necessary to streamline the budgeting and finance processes.
• Highlighting trends and areas for improvement to management.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance required.
• Minimum experience of 7-10 years in Oil & Gas finance roles.
• E&P accounting experience required.
• Advanced Excel skills required.
