The Actuarial Practice of Oliver Wyman advises clients on risk management across a broad spectrum of issues. Our actuaries are highly qualified and provide independent, objective advice in healthcare, life and annuity, and property & casualty. The Property & Casualty Consulting Practice assists insurers, corporates, government entities and other organisations with risk analysis, pricing, reserving, capital modelling and new product development.
Job DescriptionOliver Wyman is currently seeking an Actuarial P&C Manager to join our Property & Casualty Actuarial Consulting Practice. This position requires the candidate to work closely with consultants and analysts to independently analyse complex problems and develop workable solutions for our clients, including large corporations, captive insurance companies, state regulators and P&C insurers.
Primary Responsibilities- Primary focus on loss reserving with additional projects in pricing/rate making, predictive modelling, economic capital modelling and warranty and loyalty rewards programmes.
- Manage new projects and take over existing projects with minimal principal involvement, serving as the day‑to‑day project point person and managing client communications.
- Review analysts’ work to ensure technical accuracy and integrity across a wide variety of analyses, templates and exhibits.
- Support training, development and mentoring of analysts on project teams to aid in their career growth.
- Prepare production of exhibits and written reports to present findings to clients.
- Attend and participate in client meetings as required.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships for business development activities, including assisting with proposals and presentations for prospective clients.
- BA/BS degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance or related field.
- 7+ years of actuarial experience in the property & casualty industry, preferably with prior actuarial consulting experience.
- Near ACAS/FCAS credentials.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and oversee multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.
- Excellent analytical abilities and the ability to develop client‑oriented solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communications skills.
- Understanding of the value of collaboration and the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Ability to manage a heavy work volume and meet deadlines in an extremely fast‑paced environment.
- Self‑starter with strong initiative, confidence and ability to work with little guidance.
- Deep critical‑thinking and problem‑solving ability.
- Highly motivated and willing to work in a dynamic environment.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience with R, SAS, SQL or VBA is a plus.
Competitive compensation and benefits package, including a performance‑based bonus, actuarial study program and a flexible work environment.
Base salary range: $83,000 – $150,000. Base pay based on experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education and exams. Eligible for performance‑based incentives.
