JOB SUMMARY
Assists the Chief Financial Officer in managing the financial and business operations of the district, including the Accounting, Budget, Charter School Business Office, External Funding, Medicaid, Payroll, Procurement, Risk Management, Treasury, and Warehouse Operations departments. Serves as the chief financial advisor to the Chief Financial Officer. Provides executive support to the Chief Financial Officer for managing and monitoring day-to-day operations in the Office of Finance, among the Chief Financial Officer's senior leadership team, and across the Office of Finance's priorities and strategies.
At the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, provides leadership and direction for special and/or cross-functional projects, coordinates activities that involve all members of the Chief Financial Officer's senior leadership team, and/or serves as a representative of the Chief Financial Officer in meetings with staff members across departments and external stakeholders.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Manages cross-functional projects and initiatives identified by the Chief Financial Officer for reporting departments.
2. Works collaboratively with and provides support to senior leaders within the Office of Finance to implement special projects and initiatives of high priority to the Chief Financial Officer and district.
3. Manage the establishment of ongoing financial operations to ensure fiscal responsibility to meet the needs of the schools, community and taxpayers.
4. Direct, manage and coordinate the financial services related to the planning, development and implementation of policies, programs, and practices in support of the overall district.
5. Prepares executive summaries, documents, and correspondence as needed by the Chief Financial Officer.
6. Monitors financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions, minimizing the impact of variances.
7. Detailed Analytics and Data Analysis:
Conduct in-depth analytics and rigorous analysis of complex financial and operational data, identifying trends, insights, and actionable recommendations to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED
8. Assists in implementing recommendations from internal and external auditors.
9. Assists in reviewing and participates in the analysis of laws, rules, regulations, opinions, and decisions that affect the financial activities of the district.
10. Achieve the mission of refocused support and delivery of services to schools through day-to-day coordination and supervision of all aspects of staff departments.
11. Ensures that accounting and reporting systems comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, applicable laws, and related regulations as required by the Texas Education Agency Financial Accountability System Resource Guide.
12. Coordinates and reviews the budgets of all departments reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.
13. Prepares, reviews, and submits Board agenda items to the Chief Financial Officer from departments reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.
14. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred CPA
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required 10+ years of directly related experience.
