Contract – Director of Finance

We are a high-growth utility construction company seeking a Director of Finance to lead the financial strategy, controls, and reporting infrastructure that will support our next phase of growth. This role will work closely with executive leadership to drive financial discipline, scalability, and long-term value creation.

The Director of Finance will own financial planning, reporting, and operational finance, with a strong focus on forecasting accuracy, cash flow optimization, margin improvement, and scalable financial systems
. The ideal candidate brings deep construction finance expertise and a proactive, growth-oriented mindset.

• Lead company-wide financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning
• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close with a high standard of accuracy and timeliness
• Develop and maintain detailed project-level financial models
  , including WIP, percentage-of-completion, and margin analysis
• Drive cash flow forecasting, working capital optimization, and capital planning
• Oversee job costing systems and ensure alignment between field operations and financial reporting
• Establish and strengthen internal controls, policies, and financial governance
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax requirements, and multi-state utility construction regulations
• Support bonding, lender, and external audit requirements
• Build, lead, and scale the finance and accounting team as the company grows
• Partner with executive leadership and operations to provide data-driven insights that support growth initiatives, new markets, and profitability

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA or MBA strongly preferred)
• 8–12+ years of progressive finance leadership experience
• Proven background in construction, utilities, or infrastructure finance
• Expert-level knowledge of job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion accounting
• Experience supporting rapid growth, system improvements, or organizational scaling
• Strong financial modeling, analytical, and executive communication skills
• Hands‑on leader comfortable operating in both strategic and execution-focused environments
