Job SummaryThe Tax Experienced Manager, Core Tax Services advises clients on tax implications, selects actions to reduce tax burden and compliance costs, and serves as the primary client contact for complex tax issues. The role applies knowledge to recognize tax risks, make decisions on filings, prepare responses to federal and state agencies, and participates in marketing and business development while maintaining client relationships.
Responsibilities- Tax Compliance: Review tax reports, ensure client compliance with authorities and firm policies, resolve issues with clients, communicate with clients and internal teams, manage engagement process, and ensure timely billing and collection.
- Research: Identify research needs, frame issues, provide methodology, train staff, and involve firm specialists.
- ASC 740 & ASC 740 Tax Accruals: Apply firm policies, review provisions, assist clients with uncertain tax positions, and review prepared work papers.
- Tax Consulting: Recommend tax‑saving solutions, manage risk, consult with specialists, monitor implementation, and manage agency inquiries.
- Tax Specialization: Develop deep expertise in specific tax areas, conduct external training, and mentor staff.
- Strategy Development: Introduce and implement new tax strategies, evaluate effectiveness, and present to clients.
- Other duties as required.
- Supervise associates and senior associates, review their work, train on software, and provide performance feedback.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics;
Master’s preferred. - Six or more years of relevant tax experience and prior supervisory experience.
- Industry expertise in a tax specialty preferred.
- CPA, Attorney, or EA required; other professional certificates preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and tax research databases.
- Superior verbal and written communication.
- Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to delegate, work in a team, develop and manage tax team.
- Compose written tax advice, maintain client relationships, and demonstrate executive presence.
