Job Description:
A Houston-based, multidisciplinary firm specializing in civil engineering, land surveying, construction management, and transportation data collection is seeking a Civil Project Engineer – Transportation to support and lead roadway and transportation infrastructure projects for municipal and state agencies.
This role focuses on the design, coordination, and delivery of transportation projects including roadway improvements, traffic infrastructure, and municipal capital projects. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable coordinating across disciplines and stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the design of roadway, intersection, and transportation improvement projects
- Prepare PS&E plan sets, including:
- Roadway geometry
- Traffic control
- Signing and striping
- Perform engineering calculations, analyses, and technical reports
- Coordinate with internal engineering, survey, and design teams
- Support permitting, utility coordination, and agency reviews
- Participate in QA/QC reviews and project management tasks
- Assist with proposals, schedules, budgets, and client coordination
- Attend site visits, project meetings, and field reviews as needed
- Mentor junior engineers, designers, and EITs
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Professional Engineer (PE) license – required
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a licensed PE in transportation or municipal infrastructure
- Proficiency with Micro Station / Open Roads Designer (ORD)
- GEOPAK experience is a plus
- Strong working knowledge of agency standards including:
- TxDOT
- City of Houston
- Harris County and surrounding municipalities
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
Preferred Experience (Senior-Level Candidates):
- 8+ years of transportation or civil infrastructure experience
- Proven ability to manage complex projects, schedules, budgets, and client relationships
- Experience mentoring staff and supporting business development efforts
