Position Summary:

Develops and improves manufacturing processes, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization and determines parts and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification. The position also leads continuous improvement (best in class) and cost saving initiatives for the manufacturing process.

Description of Duties:
  • Create detailed work instructions (job travelers) for fabricated parts and assemblies.
  • Collect, maintain, and analyze data related to materials, products, and processes.
  • Help with design of tooling to improve production.
  • Collaborate with design engineers on effective production methods, evaluate, advise and enhance existing designs and tests with knowledge of manufacturability and production techniques. Answer questions and requests as they arise. Coordinate with engineering on process design problems.
  • Provides manufacturing decision‑making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Confer with vendors to evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Training and guiding technicians through the design and development of projects.
  • Participate in design and product reviews to ensure Producibility.
  • Perform research relating to specific projects.
  • Develop process specifications and procedures for specific projects.
  • Create manufacturing plans and schedules for specific programs.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of a variety of manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of equipment and systems appropriate to related discipline.
  • Skill in applying engineering principles and procedures.
  • Skill in engineering design applications.
  • Knowledge of soft goods (fabrics) assembly processes and methods
  • Knowledge or understanding of Solider Works and Composer
  • Skill in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5)
  • Knowledge and familiarity with AS9100 Standards.
  • Skill in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and spoken form
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Ability to solve complex problems with minimal guidance and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks within the required time frame in a highly interactive environment with frequent interruptions and change priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented company with employees of various degrees of business and technical experience in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive work relationships; have creativity, flexibility, and resourcefulness; have discriminating judgment, tact and sense of humor.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer in the aerospace industry or;
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field and 5-7 years' experience as a Manufacturing Engineer in the aerospace industry.
  • Familiarity with AS9100
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (small, medium, and large)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
Desired

Qualifications:
  • Computer Aided Manufacturing experience
  • Experience in Solid Works', ProE and/or Autocad
  • CNC Programming experience (hands on)
  • E2 Shop System or similar MRP system
